I Love You
Your head on my chest.
You softly hummed a tune.
As we laid on your sofa,
tenth night in a row.
-
Outside the night sky sings,
beautiful melody of silent serene.
Nothing else mattered,
as we laid there and breathed.
-
That current state of existence,
only lovers could have experienced.
I laid there with my heart opened.
For you everything I would dare and risk.
-
I looked at you,
I could only see your forehead,
The fragrance from your hair,
you have conquered my all.
-
I said, "Hey."
You didn’t budge.
"Hmm?" was your reply,
I repeated again.
-
You looked up and said, "Yes?"
Our eyes connected.
Those beautiful eyes,
I could stare till I die.
-
Beautiful face I don’t deserve,
yet your petal lips to me you reserved.
-
And with no force and no strain,
no other words could have replaced.
There it was, I laid bare.
"I love you."
I wasn’t afraid.
-
You turned back, cheek on my chest,
shied away a tear of joy.
Softly you whispered, I barely heard,
"You don’t know how happy that made me."
And gave me a tighter squeeze.
